HAMDEN, Conn. — Two juveniles from New Haven were charged after they brought knives to a Hamden school on Thursday.
Members of the Hampden Police Department responded to the ACES school campus on Leeder Hill Drive after being alerted that there were two students with knives, police said. An investigation determined that the 16-year-old students were suspended earlier in the day and asked not to return to the school after a dispute with another student.

After returning to the school, one of the students pulled the fire alarm, police said. School security and staff members detained the students until police arrived.
Police said their investigation revealed both students had knives. There were no injuries reported.
Both juveniles were charged with conspiracy to commit assault in the second degree, trespassing and carrying a dangerous weapon, police said, adding that one of the teens was also charged with pulling the fire alarm.
Both juveniles were released to the custody of their parents and will appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on April 2, 2024.
