1 killed in New London crash

NEW LONDON, Conn. — One person was killed in a two car crash Saturday evening in New London. 

Police were called to the intersection of Colman St. and Broad St., just before midnight on Saturday for the report of a crash involving two cars. 

When they arrived, officers found several people on the scene with injuries. Four people were taken to L+M Hospital for medical treatment. The driver of one of the involved vehicles was later transported to Yale New Haven Hospital from L+M Hospital due to the injuries sustained. 

Jason Poirier, 33, of New London, died from his injuries at Yale New Haven Hospital on Monday. 

The accident investigation remains active. Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to contact the New London Police Department's Detective Bureau at 860-447-1481 or anonymous information can be submitted via the New London Tips 411 system.
