FRANKLIN, Connecticut — It might not be marked on your calendar but National Milk Day is real and the Connecticut State Department of Agriculture is determined to get their message out.
At a press event on the 136 acres of Hyde’s Dairy Farm, Agriculture Commissioner Bryan Hulburt said, “Dairy farmers across the nation are celebrating.”

The day was centered around supporting small dairy farms and the men and women who make them go.
“It (the dairy business) is the second biggest part of the agriculture industry in our state and it supports more than 5,000 jobs and $2.2 billion in our economy," Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz said. "This is a day to celebrate the very vibrant agricultural and dairy heritage that’s here in our state"
Offering a tour of his Dairy farm and showcasing the fresh and flavored milk he sells, David Hyde, the owner of Hyde’s Farm said, “We’re trying to bring the milkman back. We want to try and keep a little bit of history and we want to promote milk – we want everyone to be drinking milk – our trademark is milk on every doorstep from a local Connecticut farm.”
