PRESTON, Connecticut — A man was killed in a single car crash in Route 164 Sunday evening when the car he was driving went off the road and struck a tree, according to Connecticut State Police.
Frederick Coonan, 78, of North Grosvenordale, died from his injuries. He was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
Connecticut State Police said at 8:08 p.m. they were called to the area of Route 164 and Deerbrook Road in Preston for a single car crash.
Police said a 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Route 164 when it left the road and struck a tree before spinning and coming to a stop.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, has any information on the crash, or has video of the collision, is asked to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski at the State Police barracks for Troop E 860-848-6500.
