Environmental officials also responded to the scene to conduct air and water sampling.

The fire closed parts of Pond Road for several hours and has since reopened.

It is not clear if there were any injuries reported at the scene.

The Franklin Fire Marshal and Connecticut State Police are investigating the origin and cause of the fire, which at this time officials believe does not appear to be criminal.
