VOLUNTOWN, Conn. — The Voluntown Volunteer Fire Department is responding to "a large" brush fire in town on Saturday and is asking people to stay out of the area.
Firefighters are responding to the brush fire between the 100 block of Shetucket Turnpike and Wylie School Road. It is not clear how many acres of land have been affected.
"Anyone in out in the forest currently in this area please get out of woods," Voluntown Volunteer firefighters advised on social media.
There is a temporary flight restriction placed in the area, prohibiting drones or low-flying planes uninvolved in firefighting operations from flying in the area.
Firefighters are also near Ayers Mountain in Franklin battling a brush fire. The Taftville Fire Department was at the mountain Saturday morning before being sent to Voluntown to bring water supply for UTVs and assist in controlling the fire "in the forest."
