GROTON, Conn — First lady Dr. Jill Biden will be visiting with military families in Groton on Thursday evening.
After spending the day in the Chicago area, Biden will arrive around 7 p.m. at Groton-New London Airport.
At 7:30 p.m., as part of her Joining Forces initiative to support military families, the first lady will attend a holiday gathering at the Submarine Force Museum in Groton with the USS Delaware’s crew and families. The event will not be open to the public.
This is the second time she has met with the families of the USS Delaware. Biden and Secretary of the Navy Carlos del Toro arrived in Groton in December 2021 to visit with U.S. Navy families Delaware, the submarine for which the first lady serves as the sponsor.
Biden has visited Meriden in the past along with the Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to visit an elementary school in Meriden in March 2021.
