All four inside the SUV had to be extricated, and they were initially treated at the scene before being rushed to L&M Hospital in critical condition.
At this time, it's unknown what caused the crash.
Members of the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit were also at the scene to help with the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation; anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has other information that could assist investigators is asked to call the Groton Police Department at 860-441-6712.
