COLCHESTER, Conn. — A man was arrested Saturday in connection to an armed robbery at a gas station in Colchester, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers responded at 9:28 p.m. on Jan. 26 to a 911 call at the Gulf Mart convenience store. The caller reported that a man who was wearing a gray hoodie stole money from the cash register while displaying a gold pistol and then left the gas station on a bike, state police said.
State police, including multiple K-9 units, searched the area after finding a teal Mongoose bike and a white Nike sneaker in the grassy shoulder of Route 149. No one was found after the initial search, according to state police.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded and collected evidence including surveillance video and a statement from a witness who said they saw a man pull out a gun and demand money from the cash register, according to the suspect's arrest warrant.
On Jan. 27, troopers from State Police Troop H in Hartford found a red 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck on Main Street in Glastonbury, which they had connected to multiple incidents in the area involving a man consistent in appearance with the armed robbery suspect on the Gulf Mart surveillance video, state police said.
Daniel Reardon, 35, of Broad Brook, was arrested at the scene and taken to Troop K in Colchester, where he was charged with four counts of drug paraphernalia and resisting/interfering with an officer during his arrest, according to state police. He was held on a $100,000 cash bond and appeared in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
State police said that on Tuesday, Troop K took Reardon into custody from the Hartford Correctional Center on an active arrest warrant. At Troop K barracks, Reardon was additionally charged with robbery in the 1st degree, larceny in the 3rd degree, and breach of peace in the 2nd degree. He had also refused to have his fingerprints taken and was charged with failure to comply with fingerprint request.
Reardon was held on a court set bond of $150,000 and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court on Wednesday, state police said.
