OLD LYME, Conn — Connecticut State Police and Old Lyme Police arrested a fugitive suspect in a sexual assault case on Tuesday.
Kody Tyler Stewart, 30, is wanted in Tennessee on multiple felony sexual assault charges involving a minor and was believed to possess firearms at the Old Lyme residence. He is scheduled to be in court on Wednesday on charges of being a fugitive from justice, and was held on a $500,000 bond.
Police said they were contacted by authorities in Tennessee who were seeking help in locating Stewart who was believed to be in Old Lyme.
Stewart was located in the home Tuesday morning and surrendered without incident. While in the home, police said they found an unsecured, unregistered firearm belonging to Stewart; the firearm was easily accessible to a child living in the home.
Stewart was also charged with risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment in connection to the firearm found in the home.
Stewart was unable to post the assigned $10,000 bond for these charges.
