NORWICH, Conn — A car in Norwich Friday evening went off-road and collided with multiple trees, leaving three people with life-threatening injuries, according to Taftville Fire Company #2.
At 6:18 p.m. Friday, TFC said they went to the area of Taftville-Occum Road in Norwich for a report of a car that went off the road in the S curves.
Investigators learned that the car went off the road, hit two 20-foot trees, spun 180-degrees and went backwards into another tree, TFC said.
Three people, including two adults and one child, were injured in the crash.
Taftville firefighters rescued one person trapped in the car within 18 minutes using extrication tools including their "Jaws of Life," according to TFC. Two others were able to exit the car on their own.
American Ambulance paramedics brought the three people to Backus Hospital.
Two have since been transferred to a "higher level of care" at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center, with one via LifeStar helicopter, TFC said. Their current conditions are unknown.
