LISBON, Connecticut — The driver of a truck police said struck and killed a pedestrian Monday evening in Lisbon, has been charged in connection with the crash.
Connecticut State Police said they were called to the scene on River Road near the intersection of Lee Road at 10:28 p.m. Monday evening for a crash.
A 2020 Ram pickup that police said was being driven by William Stonier, 36, of Ledyard, had been traveling northbound on River Road, hit a pedestrian and the guardrail. It continued to travel north until it hit a telephone pole and came to rest in the road.
Richard Dupont, 57, of Jewett City. died at the scene.
Stonier has been charged with operating under the influence and carrying a firearm while under the influence. Additional charges are expected in the case according to police.
Stonier is being held with a $75,000 bond.
State police are asking anyone who may have information on the crash to contact them at 860-848-6500 x5.
