LEDYARD, Conn. — A man was found dead after police tried to serve him an outstanding arrest warrant and search warrant in his Gales Ferry home on Thursday morning.
Daniel DiCicco, 47, was wanted on three outstanding warrants, including a felony warrant for Failure to Appear on weapons-related charges.
Neighbors were temporarily evacuated and roads near the scene were blocked off, police said.
At around 9:25 a.m., agents and officers began the process of executing the search warrant on the property.
According to police, surveillance of the property showed a man on the ground toward the back of the property. Agents and Crisis Negotiators attempted contact with the man and received no response. When agents could safely enter, the man showed no signs of life. Fire and EMS personnel on the scene determined the male was dead.
"He was in his motor vehicle. He had in his possession items that were prohibited including body armor, sword, flare gun, riot helmet and that type of material was located in that particular case," said Ledyard Police Chief John Rich.
"Just a tragic ending to what we found when we got on scene and the property but I will say the FBI was contacted by Ledyard Police Department regarding intel of potential weapons and improvised explosive devices on the property," said FBI agent Rob Fuller.
Detectives and Agents are continuing the search of the scene and completing their investigation.
