HARTFORD — Come spring, the Hartford Yard Goats season will be in full swing and construction crews are in overdrive at Dunkin’ Donuts Park, the new stadium.
But, one part of the project is costing a bit more than planned, over $2 million more, according to the Hartford Courant.
According to the Courant, the estimate for the roads around the park and the site preparation was $8- $10 million and now that number is topping $12 million. The work includes the relocation of Trumbull Street and according to a contract and invoice from June, the total now is $12.35 million.
City officials approved a plan to a build a $56 million stadium, it is supposed to be done by the spring of 2016. In order to meet that spring deadline more money is needed and an aggressive work schedule is necessary. The Yard Goats’ first game is scheduled for April 7th.
The ballpark is part of a $350 million development north of downtown that is also expected to include housing, parking, and retail.
