SALEM — According to police, a driver struck several people standing outside their cars after an accident, leaving one person dead and seriously injuring a woman and a child Friday evening.
State police said around 5:30 p.m. troopers were called to a three car crash with injuries on Old Colchester Road, Rt 354, near Witter Road. Before troopers arrived on the scene, another car driving south, went through the crash scene and struck the occupants of the three car crash as they were standing outside their vehicles.
Two Life Star helicopters were called to the scene to take a woman and one child to the hospital. Officials said the woman’s injuries were substantial. The person who died had been taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Others were taken to hospitals by ambulance as well.
