NEW YORK – It’s been one of pop music’s greatest secrets.
Who was Carly Simon singing about in the 1972 hit, “You’re So Vain”? At last, there’s an answer. Sort of.
Simon reveals in her forthcoming autobiography, “Boys In The Trees” that the second verse is about actor/director Warren Beatty.
People.com posted the story online Wednesday morning. “Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!” Simon said to the magazine.
The second verse says:
You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
