NEW LONDON--We thank them for protecting us, but can we also sing them "Happy birthday"?
On Tuesday, the United States Coast Guard celebrated its 225th birthday at the New London City Pier.
There was a 13-gun salute from the Navy, which joined in on the celebrations, as well as a parade of vessels in the Thames River.
A special cake was also cut to celebrate, and it was shaped like a boat!
