In 2011, Charles French of Hartford was killed for something he didn’t have in a random act of violence that has police frustrated, and family members outraged. Former Hartford police detective Chris Lyons opens the cold case file.
French was gunned down in the Asylum Hill section of Hartford while he was on his way home to 366 Laurel Street on November 15. He was walking home at 11:30 p.m. on the phone with a friend, when the person on the other end heard him saying him saying “I don’t have anything leave me alone.” A scuffle ensued, then silence. French was shot in the back of the head.
He was accosted by men with a gun trying to rob him. Police know there were witnesses to the crime, but they have gotten mixed stories. Police are looking for help from the public.
