BRIDGEPORT--It's been more than 26 years, but police and family members are still holding out hope that the person who killed Luis Gonzalez will be brought to justice.
Gonzalez was just 16 when he was shot and killed on February 10, 1990 at 1160 State Street in Bridgeport.
Gonzalez was working at the Vega Alta grocery store that his parents owned when a group of men came in around 6:30 p.m., pulled him outside, and shot him several times. He died later at the hospital.
Police and friends say that Gonzalez was a star athlete who was part of the Bassick High School baseball team. He was in his junior year.
The man who shot him was described as black and wearing a red shirt and red hat. Others in the group were Hispanic and black, and they wore ski masks. One of the men wearing a ski mask lured Gonzalez outside the store.
Police say he was a good kid who had no interaction with their department before his death.
