On April 25th, 1993, Maria Martinez, a 20-year-old local woman was shot in killed on Lawrence street in Hartford. Martinez has no criminal background or history, therefore it was believed that her murder was part of a gang initiation.
In the early 90s, the gangs were rampant in Hartford and street violence was prevalent. Many people were present at the time of the Martinez murder and are urged to come forward, as police cannot complete this case without the public's help.
