HARTFORD–Tuesday evening President Barack Obama will give his annual State of the Union address.
Before a joint session of Congress, he will deliver an update on the nation’s progress and outline his priorities for 2015.
Each member of the House and Senate is allowed to bring along a guest, which is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for citizens.
Rep. Elizabeth Esty and her guest, the president of Naugatuck Valley Community College, Dr. Daisy Cocco De Filippis, spoke to Fox CT Tuesday afternoon.
They discussed Obama’s proposal to make the first two years of community college free.
“I believe in recognizing the importance community colleges,” said De Filippis. “Community colleges are basically bridges of opportunity, both working down with the high schools to help the kids complete, through our gear up program, to working with industry to retrain displaced workers.”
