HARTFORD — Democratic legislative leaders are hoping to vote in the coming days on a revised Connecticut budget for next fiscal year, which is about $922 million in deficit.
The revised plan will be based on revenue estimates for the new fiscal year, which are expected to be released Tuesday.
House Speaker Brendan Sharkey says it’s possible a vote on the revised budget could happen midweek.
Sharkey says the legislature’s revised plan, which is still being crafted, will aim to cover the full deficit. He says it won’t include tax increases but some fees could be increased.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, a fellow Democrat, has criticized the Democratic-controlled budget committees for forwarding tax and spending proposals that only covered a $570 million deficit, which was the estimate back in January.
