ANDERSON, S.C. — A Connecticut truck driver is dead after being run over twice by a tractor-trailer in the parking lot of an interstate rest stop.
Anderson County Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says 53-year-old Garvin Libert of New Haven, Connecticut, was killed at about 4 a.m. Thursday.
Boseman said Libert had walked into the gas station just off Interstate 85 to buy postcards that he addressed to his mother and niece. Boseman said Libert was returning to his truck when he was hit by another tractor-trailer.
The truck driver told investigators he was leaving the parking lot for I-85 when he heard a bump. He said he backed up and tried to drive forward again, running over Libert again.
Boseman said Libert was wearing a black shirt and jeans.
