BRIDGEPORT – According to the Hartford Courant, state corrections officer Patricia Daniels is facing criminal charges after a friend told police Daniels beat the friend’s 11 year-old daughter with a belt during a recent sleepover.

These charges come after Daniels, 46, of Palisades Avenue, was released on bail in connection with a fatal hit-and-fun crash in December 2014.  She is now facing two counts of third-degree assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor for the latest incident, in addition to first-degree manslaughter, risk of injury to a minor and evading responsibility from the previous incident which killed Evelyn Agyei, 51.

The warrant for this latest incident says that “The girl told police that Daniels then told her nieces to get her “work belt” and began striking the girl across the legs with a “thin dress pants belt”.  The girl told police that Daniels then became “very angry” with her, bent her over the stairs and “straddled her head and attempted to strike her with the belt again on her backside.” She said Daniels continued to hit her with the belt until Daniels eventually opened her legs “just enough” for her to escape.  According to the warrant, the girl sat on a couch, and  then Daniels walked over to her and “struck her in the mouth with the back of her hand.”
