HARTFORD – The Connecticut State Police Captains and Lieutenants Union released a statement on Saturday, Feb. 28 in regards to the transfer of CT’s state police spokesman, Lt. Paul Vance, to traffic this past week.

The Union stated that it was “disappointed with the actions that the state police commissioner has taken against a well respected and decorated veteran of over 40 years of the Connecticut State Police.”

According to the Union, Vance is in good health, did not request a change in assignment, and was not under any sort of disciplinary issue to warrant the transfer.  Moreover, he has achieved statewide, national, and international recognition from many media outlets for the way he has handled significant events and situations during his 16 year tenure.

The statement went on to say that “the transfer of Lt. Vance, is in the opinion of our union, to be an example of the Commissioner’s management style that negatively impacts the men and women of the Connecticut State Police, which comprises the majority of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.”

The Union concluded their statement by asking Commissioner Schriro to reconsider her decision to transfer Lt. Vance out of the public information office.
