The town of Deep River experienced a 2.7 magnitude earthquake early Thursday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
It happened at 3:09 a.m. about 3 miles southwest of Deep River Center, the USGS said.
It is rare for the state of Connecticut to experience a severe earthquake.
“Moderately damaging earthquakes strike somewhere in the region every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt roughly twice a year,” according to the USGS.
