EAST HARTFORD – A small explosion occurred early Wednesday afternoon at a Connecticut Natural Gas building in East Hartford.
The building is located at 76 Meadow Street. Officials say an employee was performing maintenance on a compressed natural gas fuel station. A spark led to the fire and small explosion burning the employee on his hands and torso. The employee was taken to Hartford Hospital and could be released later today.
Meadow Street was closed and two CNG/United Illuminating buildings nearby were evacuated for about 50 minutes.
The first emergency call came in to East Hartford Police dispatch at 12:08 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
