WATERBURY — Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Monday. Waterbury Police were first called to Lounsbury Street for reports of a hit and run accident, but when officers arrived they found the man in the driveway of a home.
It happened just after 6 p.m. Monday night.
Police identified the victim as Corey Dawson, 24. He was shot in the head, according to police.
Officers identified witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting. Police learned that prior to the shooting Dawson was in a fight with a group of men.
The fight ended when all parties retreated to their cars and began pursing each other. That’s when two cars crashed into each other. Everyone got out of the cars and that’s when Dawson was shot in the head.
