BLOOMFIELD–A fire broke out at a coal-fired power plant in Bloomfield on Friday afternoon. The property is owned by Alstom Power, and the fire occurred in a coal hopper on the sixth floor of the plant. A welder’s torch ignited the fire, according to the Bloomfield fire chief.
The call for the fire at 44 Tobey Rd. came in at 2:31 p.m.
Additional towns were called for assistance, but have since cleared the scene.
No injuries were reported.
