PLAINVILLE — Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire in a large garageon Saturday afternoon.
The Plainville Fire Department arrived on scene at 15 Cronk Road at around 5 p.m. Multiple departments from nearby towns assisted, including Southington and Farmington.
Plainville Fire Chief Kevin Toner said the fire was pretty severe when firefighters arrived on scene.
The fire was put out sometime after 8 p.m. but the building suffered significant damage. Toner said that the roof had been destroyed.
Over 100 firefighters battled the fire, with one Plainville firefighter suffering a slight slip and fall. They are expected to be OK.
The 11-bay garage had several employees were inside at the start of the fire, Toner said. The employees were able to all get out safely and nobody were harmed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
