WATERBURY – Waterbury Police have arrested a man who struck an officer while fleeing a scene.

Police say they were investigating a domestic violence incident in the area of 100 Mark Lane.

As officers approached, a black Nissan Altima driven by a Jequan Love, began to leave the area, driving recklessly. As Love drove, the officers ordered him to stop. Love struck one officer in the lower body sending the officer to the ground. Love continued to flee the scene in the car and was later found at his residence on Bateswood Avenue in Waterbury.

The officer that was struck was taken to Waterbury hospital where he was treated and released for injuries sustained in the accident.

Love is being held at the Waterbury Police department, charged with assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, interfering, and evading responsibility.

He is in Waterbury Superior Court on July 5th for an arraignment.
