NEW HAVEN–New Haven is cooking up an exciting event.

The city is holding a food truck festival for the first time, and you’ll want to come with an appetite.

Food trucks assembled near City Hall on Wednesday to announce the festival, which will be held at the Long Wharf next month. Food trucks are set up there daily,  but this will be a much bigger to do.

Live music, a carnival, handmade items made by local vendors, children’s activities and 50 or so food trucks will all be available for the festival weekend, which is the last weekend in May.

The event isn’t just about food–it’s for a good cause. “We’ll be able to give capital to people looking to start their own small business,” said Jacqueline James of the small business services. James says they hope to raise $50,000, which will go to grants to help bring more small businesses to the Elm City.

“I think it helps them as much as it helps us,” said Mayor Toni Harp.

Tickets for the May 30-31 festival are $5, and children under 17 are free. For more information, click here.
