HARTFORD–After the death of a firefighter in an October blaze and several police-involved incidents, the Hartford Fire Department has placed Deputy Chief James McGloughlin on paid administrative leave.

McGloughlin has been on leave since Dec. 10.

Previously, Lt. Scott Cunningham and Lt. Vernon Tyson were placed on leave after getting into a physical altercation at a firehouse; firefighter Jeffrey Vendetta was placed on leave after getting arrested for driving under the influence and evading a scene after an accident; and Justin Wood, a firefighter, was placed on leave after accidentally shooting his friend.

The department, as well as Mayor Pedro Segarra, say they are working to investigate what’s going on to help get the department back on a positive course.
