Around 6 p.m. firefighters rescued the man and his cat from his apartment, and he was rushed to St. Francis Hospital. From there, the victim was taken to the burn unit at Bridgeport Hospital, and he’s listed in critical condition.
No one else was hurt, but residents were evacuated and four families were displaced from the multi-unit complex in the second alarm fire.
The fire was contained to one apartment and was quickly knocked down.
