HARTFORD — The last Roman Catholic elementary school in Hartford is closing its doors.
The Archdiocese of Hartford says St. Augustine School will close, and its students will move to St. Brigid School in West Hartford.
Enrollment had been dwindling at the school, which was founded in 1927. The archdiocese says it needed more than $8 million in repairs.
The school currently has 146 students, down from a peak of more than a thousand decades ago. Another Catholic school in Hartford closed in 2014.
The archdiocese says St. Brigid will be renamed St. Brigid-St. Augustine and a bus will be available to take students from Hartford to the West Hartford location.
