HARTFORD — Police are investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday night. Police rushed to 241 Laurel Street following a shooting that took place around 10 p.m.
Police say multiple shots were fired, triggering the city’s ShotSpotter system and provoking several 9-1-1 calls from residents. Police found a man, later identified as 30-year-old Carl Spence of Hartford, dead from two gunshot wounds.
This was the first homicide in Hartford in 2019.
Police believe this was not a random shooting, and that the victim and shooter knew each other. Spence did not live at the apartment building at 241 Laurel.
