WASHINGTON, DC – Several models of John Deere riding mowers have been recalled due to a faulty brake control.
Around 1,700 tractors are affected. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the brake arm on the lawn tractor can fail, posing a crash hazard that could result in serious injury or death. The recall covers John Deere models D110, D125, D130, D140, D155, D160 and D170 lawn tractors with serial numbers beginning with 1GXD.
The CPSC owners should stop using the recalled lawn tractors immediately and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair. John Deere is also contacting all registered owners of the recalled lawn tractors directly.
The mowers were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and other John Deere dealers from May 2015 through August 2015 for between $1,700 and $2,700.
