NEW HAVEN--Furniture shopping may sound like a boring task, but for once kids will be begging to come along for the ride at the new Jordan's Furniture store opening on Friday in New Haven.
The new furniture store, located at 40 Sargent Dr. on the Long Wharf, will feature quite the array of entertainment: an IT Adventure Ropes Course, which will be the world's largest indoor ropes course, as well as a lighted water show below.
CEO Eliot Tatelman says that focusing the shopping experience on the experience part is all part of the plan.
"Buying furniture should be fun! Life is too short, everybody should have a good time, and that's what this is about!"
The company already owns locations in Reading, Natick and Avon, Massachusetts, as well as Nashua, New Hampshire and Warwick, Rhode Island. Each store features its own unique experience, from laser light theaters to enchanted antique villages, to ice skating and water shows. The new ropes course is just the latest iteration of Jordan's unique selling technique.
"When I walked in this room and saw 65 feet high, without a column, I started backing in and said, 'what can I do in a room like this?' And now looked what we transformed it into," he said about why he chose to do a rope's course in the New Haven location.
There's only two ways down from the massive ropes course--which is very safe and reinforced at every turn: down the stairs, or by jumping four stories down.
"This is going to be the greatest experience anybody could ever have, and they can't do it anywhere else but here," Tatelman said.
The store will officially be open to the public on Friday, December 11 at 5 p.m.
