BRISTOL — “Move over, Disneyland,” Buzzfeed writes. The website has compiled a list of “the most underrated amusement parks to visit before you die.”
Local spot, Lake Compounce, made the list! It is the oldest, continuously-operating amusement park in North America, opening in 1846. Lake Compounce is home to Boulder Dash, which has been voted the world’s #1 wooden roller coaster, as well as Connecticut’s largest water park.
“It’s a compact park with a few other great coasters. They also have plenty of shows to see, a water park, river rapids, kid’s park, and even a chairlift that goes over a mountain at the park’s edge. Also, soda is free which is a great bonus :).” one Buzzfeed reader writes.
Knoebels Grove in Elysburg, PA took the top spot on the list.
Story Land and Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire, Kennywood, Hersey Park, and Sesame Place in Pennsylvania are all of the other North East spots you may want to check out.
