A man as arrested in Shelton in connection to two burglaries and one assault.

Todd Skeens, 19, of Derby, is accused breaking into two vehicles on Sept. 4–one on Maltby Street, from which he allegedly stole an iPad and other items, and a second vehicle on Wakelee Avenue, from which he allegedly took a wallet and tried, unsuccessfully, to steal the car with a screwdriver.

Skeens is also a suspect in an Aug. 18 assault. A 50-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by Skeens and a second male after they got in an argument. Skeen and the other man allegedly punched the victim several times in the face and head before destroying some of his belongings.

Skeens is being charged with assault in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, two counts of burglary in the third degree, larceny in the fifth degree, larceny in the sixth degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the third degree, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree, conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree, mischief in the third degree and criminal liability for acts of another/assault in the third degree.

He was arrested on Friday and held $21,000 bond. He was arraigned Friday afternoon, but the case was continued until Nov. 14. He remains detained.
