NEWINGTON — The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is sending out a warning to customers after two people posed as water company employees.
The two male suspects told a Newington homeowner in the area of Timothy Street that they needed to check the water. The suspects gained access to the home. The MDC did not provide any further details.
The water company offered some tips for customers to follow:
- MDC field employees wear clothing and drive vehicles clearly marked with the MDC logo.
- All employees have photo identification badges. The policy is “No identification – No Entry.”
- If someone comes to your door claiming to be from the water company and you don’t have a scheduled appointment, do not allow that person access to your home until you call the MDC Command Center at 860-278-7850 ext 3600 to verify his/her identity.
- If you have any doubt, don’t allow the individual into your home and call police.
The MDC has sent out very similar warning in the past, most recently in March and last December.
