CROMWELL -- Why do you do it when you have children depending on you?
It's a question that Melissa Roming and Nicole Laterra often hear. They're volunteer firefighters at the Cromwell Fire Department and they're also moms.
The importance of helping others outweighs the fears, controlled by the confidence they have in their support system, their fellow firefighters.
"They have my back and I have theirs," says Laterra, who has four kids. But, in recent years, the number of volunteer firefighters has dwindled across the state, which a new campaign called Everyday Hero CT is aiming to change.
