MONROE — A natural gas outage is affecting about 200 customers Tuesday morning and customers are being told to shut off gas appliances.

According to Eversource, 215 homes were part of the outage in the area of Route 110 and Route 111. By 11:30 a.m., that number had been reduced to 45 homes.

The outage was first reported around 6p.m. Monday. Crews expect to restore service by late Tuesday afternoon.

Residents are being asked by Eversource to shut off their gas appliances. Eversource will go to each house to manually shut off gas lines and will return to relight pilot lights once the issue is resolved. Customers can call 800-989-0900 for assistance.

Officials said the cause of the outage was due to a faulty valve.
