HAMDEN – Hamden Police arrested a New Haven man who they said wanted to “snipe” officers.

On Friday at around 2 a.m. police rwere called to Go on Gas at 144 Arch Street for a report of a suspicious person.

Police said that Alex Lawrence, 24, of New Haven, went into the store and asked the clerk for free cigar.

Police said the clerk refused and asked Lawrence to leave the store. The clerk said that Lawrence allegedly then stated, “Call the police. I want to kill them and snipe them when they arrive.”

The clerk told police that he feared for his life.

Police found Lawrence to have a small quantity of marijuana and a Hydromorphone pill. Lawrence was arrested and charged with second-degree threatening, breach of peace, possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana.
