HARTFORD — Gov. Dan Malloy’s budget office says 825 jobs have been eliminated so far from the executive branch of Connecticut’s government and more state employee layoffs are expected.
The figure announced Thursday by the Office of Policy and Management marks 76 addition job cuts since the agency’s previous June 29 announcement.
The latest list of employees receiving pink slips to help balance the state budget include employees at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington and the state’s Department of Rehabilitative Services.
Affected employees will continue to receive their salary and maintain state benefits throughout a contractual notice period.
More Executive Branch layoffs may come in the future.
Since the layoffs began on April 11, a total of now 825 Executive Branch employees and 239 Judicial Branch employees have gotten notices. The Judicial Branch has indicated it will likely eliminate up to 600 jobs in the near future.
Here’s the breakdown so far, not including the newest 76:
- Department of Children and Families: 139
- Department of Developmental Services: 113
- Department of Economic and Community Development: 4
- Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services: 87
- Department of Corrections: 187
- Department of Social Services: 78
- UConn Health Center: 89
- Military: 1
- Office of the Chief Medical Examiner: 1
- Office of Governmental Accountability: 12
- Department of Education: 13
- Department of Rehabilitation Services: 25
