HARTFORD — It’s one of Connecticut’s most dividing issues, Patriots or Giants? That issue is coming to a head this Sunday, November 8 when FOX can only air one of their games. In a move that would anger about half the state either way, FOX 61-WTIC will show the New York Giants game at 4:05 p.m.
The Giants play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida.
FOX 61 is put in the position to choose between the two most popular teams in this area and ultimately upset a large number of people. FOX 61 has repeatedly expressed this to FOX and the NFL to try and not schedule both on single game weekends.
FOX 61 generally airs the Giants in these situations as they are the NFC affiliate for the Connecticut television market which is considered all of Connecticut excluding Fairfield County. Fairfield County is considered part of the New York television market.
So plan ahead and tell your friends. The New England Patriots-Washington Redskins game at 1 p.m. won’t be seen in this area.
This issue has occurred in years past, and each year you have more options to still see the game you want. Special NFL cable packages and online streaming is available. Or you could always give a small boost to the local economy and hit up your favorite sports bar.
