HARTFORD — Traffic was slow Tuesday morning as a nor’easter that reached the state Monday night created dangerous road conditions with ice, sleet, and road debris.
The storm also prompted most school districts to cancel or delay classes Tuesday morning.
Connecticut State Police said I-395 north near exit 94 in Killingly has just the left lane open, but the right lane remains closed after a car got into an accident with a tractor-trailer truck. They said the crash caused minor injuries and advise drivers to reduce speed when approaching the area.
The state Department of Transportation warns drivers that this storm is causing slippery conditions and may cause numerous accidents to occur on state highways. There were roads closed due to downed wires or trees, like Route 44 in Mansfield, Route 165 in Voluntown, and Route 107 in Redding.
Route 85 was also closed due to a tree which fell and took down power lines and a pole in Montville just north of the Waterford town line. Northbound traffic was being detoured at Lakes Pond Road.
As of 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, Eversource was reporting about 4,310 outages in the state and United Illuminating reported 184 customers without power.
