MERIDEN- The victim in a n overnight fire has been identified.
Police said Kevin Appell, 40, was killed after a fire broke out at a duplex on 45 Hillside St. in Meriden. He was found in his side of the building and was transported the hospital where he died.
The second alarm fire was reported around 11:00 p.m. The Fire Marshal is now investigating the fire which appear to have started in the rear of the building. Meriden fought the fire with mutual aid from Berlin and Wallingford
Officials said the building has been condemned They said the homeowner who lived in the other unit was out when fire started.
