WATERTOWN — Watertown police say Route 6 in the area of Cutler Street and Baldwin Street is back open following a motor vehicle accident.
Police say emergency personnel responded to the area after they received a report of the accident and injuries Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred when a garbage truck, owned by Winter Brother’s Waste Systems, overturned. Two occupants in the truck sustained serious injuries. One was ejected from the truck, while the other was trapped in the cab. One of the victims was taken to Waterbury Hospital, and the other was taken to St. Mary’s.
The road was closed for hours as police and the accident reconstruction team investigated, but it reopened around 1 am Thursday.
