SOUTH CAROLINA -- Georgetown County Sheriff's Office said they captured 43-year-old Benjamin Morales, who is wanted for a murder in New Britain last month.
The sheriff's office said Morales was found hiding in a functioning refrigerator Tuesday afternoon.
Morales is wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Alice Marie Figueroa. Police said she was found dead at the apartments on Elam Street. Police said Morales and Figueroa shared two kids together.
Police said Figueroa was shot at least three times. Her sister, Michelle said Figueroa had gotten a new apartment to get away from Morales until he somehow found her.
New Britain Police Deputy Chief Jeanette Portalatin, at the time, warned the community that Morales is a danger, saying, “He is armed and dangerous we said before, if he is seen immediately contact your local police department or notify the New Britain police department.”
But as is common, when police put out a mugshot of a wanted murder suspect, that suspect flees the state, and is eventually tracked down by police and US Marshals. That’s exactly what happened today in Georgetown County South Carolina. Morales, on his birthday, found himself in a trailer, surrounded by a Georgetown County Sheriff’s SWAT team.
Morales is no stranger to officers. Police said he has a criminal history of aggressive behavior.
